In 2009, Farmers Investment Co./ Green Valley Pecan Company and the Walden family began hosting this annual event as a way to give back to the community and provide an affordable family outing for their neighbors and friends. Since its creation, the Sahuarita Pecan Festival has raised over $114,000, almost 7,000 pounds of food for local charities and averaged over 20,000 attendees each year.
The festival continues to be a well-regarded event in the community that meets its objectives of celebrating the agricultural heritage, educating the community about the company’s activities, provide an affordable venue for families to gather with neighbors and friends, and give back the community.

Testimonials:
“Walden Grove High School’s Law & Public Safety program has been involved with the Pecan Festival for the past four years and I can honestly say that I never have a problem finding volunteers from our program (especially knowing the extraordinary way in which they are treated by the employees of FICO and the festival organizers). FICO runs an exceptional festival each year which brings our community together in fun and laughter which means that my students (and the community) enjoy themselves and look forward to their time at the festival. Doug Hansen FBI (Ret) Walden Grove High School – Law & Public Safety
Because of supporters like FICO, emergency food assistance is available to those who need it. With your donation of $3,232.00 you are filling plates, bringing smiles, and nourishing families. Thank you for your donation and for the opportunity to be a part of the Pecan Festival. I am grateful you have chosen to help lead the way to a healthy, hunger-free community. We enjoyed ourselves and loved how organized it was. I was impressed they had pecan shells and wet the parking area. Also, it was great how organized the parking was. Lots of activities for the kids. However, it was long rides. We met some very nice people. It was a great day! DAWN M. RHODES – Festival Attendee
