FICO and Green Valley Pecan Company have a strong record of giving back to the community and community service is a key element of the Sahuarita Pecan Festival. Each year, the Sahuarita Pecan Festival will select three nonprofit beneficiaries to receive a portion of the event’s proceeds.
This year, FICO and Green Valley Pecan Company have selected the Green Valley-Sahuarita Community Food Bank and Friends of Madera Canyon as the first two beneficiaries. The third beneficiary, the Animal League of Green Valley, was selected by a community vote in July.
The organizations will receive a portion of the event's proceeds through the following activities:
Green Valley-Sahuarita Community Food Bank: will receive all of the proceeds from the Festival hayride. Attendees will once again have the option of paying for the hayride or bringing non-perishable food donation as a payment.
Friends of Madera Canyon: will receive a portion of the registration fees from the running events.
The Animal League of Green Valley: will host a wishing wells fundraiser at the event with photos of shelter dogs and cats tagged with their stated wishes (i.e. food, training, spay and neuter, a loving home). Well wishers will receive a special memento from TALGV.
